HUGE update!

So I've been slacking big time with this, but we've announced all of the bands. We're working on some amazing ideas for Travis and the show, and there are rumors of shirts and shorts being made for the show.

Here's the line up, in no order for the fest-

It's looking like $8 presale and $10 at the door.
And I can promise you will not want to miss this show, especially if we can work on some of the things being worked on. If all works out you'll be able to have a sort or interaction with Travis at the show.

We've also been working on a video package full of interviews of people who know Travis, who never met Travis, who found out about him after the accident, and even in a few cases some people who Travis never met but touched them so deeply that they've given their time to the fest and Travis himself. Expect this video to play during the fest at some point.

Now, a good friend, Laura Wright has started a tumblr account so you can keep up with Travis' progress and daily happenings. You can check that out here-

She goes into pretty deep detail about some of the things he does and how he reacts to certain things. Definitely something to keep your eye on!

In case you missed the twitter post, Demeanor (KY) has been added to the line up of this year's Travisfest. Demeanor works harder than most of the bands in recent memory. They're in the middle of a three month tour and this will be their only Nashville show for a long time. Don't miss it.

Laying the rumors to rest.

Speculation of Alcina playing Travisfest this year has been swirling around since this past weekend. Well, the rumors are true. Wes and I talked it over and it will be happening. They're very excited to be apart of the Travisfest tradition yet again, and of course I'm beyond grateful for all of their help.

This is directly from their facebook:

"We will be playing a show on April 23rd, 2011 at Rocketown as part of Travisfest 2011. We are not getting back together, we are just playing a show for a friend in need. We will have limited edition shirts of 50 and the "Lost Tracks" cd will be available with proceeds of both going to Travis Morgan. Check this page, Travisfest and Rocketown for more info. Spread the word."

 

 

So make sure you bring extra cash to pick up this limited shirts and cds.  

Once again, big ups to Alcina for doing this for Travis and all of the people who want to see them one last time.

Hardcore is helping.

I guess some people lose sight of what this subculture is truly supposed to represent, which is unity. We have all fallen on hard times, felt the feeling of being unaccepted, or some other feeling that drove us to this community. Like I said, some of us lose sight of that and it takes a painful reminder to help us regain the reminder that this is a community and everyone at some point needs help.

With that said, a friend of mine has been going through a lot and could use some help. Some of his best friends set up a blog- http://merchformatt.blogspot.com. They've been putting things on ebay to raise money for him. Everything from records, to shirts, to paintings and I'm sure more will be added shortly. I'm personally picking something up and sending a shirt as a donation and I encourage all of you to do the same. Please check out their blog and help Matt.

People often forget that just because we may be covered in tattoos, have stretched ears, or look different, that we actually do care more than most people, especially about our friends and family.

The first update.

One band has been confirmed since last weekend. It will remain a secret. The date of the show will be released on Monday via the twitter account (twitter.com/travisfest). Be sure to follow that and stay in the loop.

I just made a list of some possible bands. It's a lengthy list. 26 bands on the list to be exact.
Now I've got to weed through them and find the ones I think will be the best fit for this years fest.
Of course the fest will take place at Rocketown.

This year we're reconnecting with the kids. It's evident that there's a cycle in the "scene." Some stay around longer than others. When people leave and someone takes their spot, that's a new person who hasn't heard the story of Travis Morgan. There have been talks of doing a short video to let some of you know exactly who Travis is, that way it will mean more and be more personal. More details on that will be released as I get them.
